Two engineers Brother Started Electric vehicle spare parts business

As you may have guessed, Ahmedabad-based Naks Automation has expanded its operations to include two offices and has already worked with more than 1,000 EV enthusiasts across India.

The launch of www.motorkit.in,  has created a one-stop-shop for electric vehicle manufacturers, assemblers, and end-users.

There are a wide variety of products to choose from at Motorkit.in, an online store. Lithium batteries are available for all types of EV, such as electric bicycles, electric scooters, E-bikes, and E-rickshaws. Watt ratings range from 250 watts to 2000 watts. Every aspect of the business is under one roof.

In 2018, electrical engineer Chintan Patel and mechanical engineer Neel Patel set out to build an electric cycle on their own. However, after completing the project, they discovered that suppliers were unwilling to provide additional technical support, so they came up with an innovative business plan and began selling Electric Vehicle Spare Parts online, complete with technical specifications and installation guidelines.

With 8000+ visitors per month, they are now able to get products manufactured with their brand directly from trusted suppliers and also import from well-known brands to meet their specific requirements.

The remarkable thing is that the company from which they bought their first bicycle kit is now a client of Naks Automation and doing business in bulk.

The expansion of the company

Only Amazon and Flipkart were selling materials through the company’s portals in 2018 and 2019;

Founder and Sales Head Chintan says, “I also took on the responsibility of managing orders, shipment, and social media marketing; soon after 2020 we decided to come up with our website to save commission of third party E-commerce platform and give that 15-20 percent benefit direct to the customer, there we Launched motorkit.in under NAKS automation brand”

He went on to say, “We have a trademark for the NAKS brand and now we also have our own manufacturing for some products with our brand, we are grateful to the customers who regularly order from motorkit.in and now in 2022 we have 30% repeat customers.”

Even in the midst of a pandemic, the company received a positive response.

The company’s orders dropped during the lockdown, but since the covid pandemic eased and the lockdown was lifted, NAKS has seen an increase in sales. Last year, the company made a profit of Rs. 80 lakh, even in the face of Covid, and by the end of January, it had crossed Rs. 1.3 crore in sales.

Our goal was to make India pollution free, introduce sustainable sources of energy, and raise awareness of electric vehicles in the country to bring the EV revolution,” NAKS Automation founders said. When we talk about a “revolution,” we mean that even if a customer isn’t technically inclined, we’ll teach them about electric vehicle technology and demonstrate the benefits that come with it. We’ll show them the economic and financial advantages of EVs and provide contact information for past customers so they can inquire about their experiences with our products and get firsthand feedback.

The company sells a variety of electric vehicle components, including electric bicycle kits, electric scooter kits, electric motorcycle kits, electric rickshaw kits, lithium batteries, and other parts and pieces.

E-rex, EMF innovations, Rotodrive, and GeeKay, all well-known Indian brands, are also used by the brand as a source of materials.

Product of the Business

The company’s strategy for promoting its products

It is Neel and Chintan’s hope that they can change people’s perceptions of EV, which they see as being a brand-new technology that is not widely accepted. Customers who use their products share their videos and photos with NAKS and they get a positive response from their social media pages.

You can’t go to India and not be served by our products now, with Abid in Kashmir making electric bicycles using our Bicycle Kit and Tony using our lithium-ion battery for many years now.

We feel proud that we somehow even for a small product managed to serve reputed brands like 29motors, Atumobile, Sturdy bikes, Robo-craft, Robokits India, Hindalco (Aditya Birla venture), Toroid, and many more,” Chintan said.

In order to succeed, one must face the competition and the challenges.

With suppliers who are importing low-quality or refurbished material in bulk quantities and selling it to customers as new, these companies aren’t running more than six months but they’re very much and so the same number of new companies is coming with same cheap quality monopoly, ” Neel said.

With customer support, word-of-mouth advertising, and positive customer reviews, we were able to survive. Another way in which we differ from our competitors is that we do not lower our standards in order to keep our prices competitive.

Additionally, customers’ lack of knowledge and lack of confidence in EVs is a challenge.

Some social media posts mislead people into purchasing an EV, and the government is taking all necessary steps to improve charging infrastructure for the EV revolution.”With regard to obstacles, Neel cites a payment method known as ‘Cash-on-Delivery’ (COD). When customers order COD delivery but refuse to accept delivery, it happens all the time. “Being a small business, this has a big impact on us because of the additional two-way logistics costs.”

However, we were able to close more deals after including COD and EMI payment options. As a result, we are not second-guessing our choice.
